“I must have flowers, always, and always”
— CLAUDE MONET
Monet’s quote could not be more true for me.
I MUST GROW FLOWERS
I must come up with a fabulous way to fill my house full of them, and justify my ever growing addiction to buy seeds and plants and keep me outside in the sunshine in my garden. I must have a creative outlet and what is more magical than growing your own colour palette? All those textures, intricate details and intoxicating scent!
MEET TEGAN
Hi! It’s so lovely that you are here.
I absolutely love living on our farm and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. I’ve always lived in the country, and I’ve always had a garden.
Before I became a flower farmer I lived in the world of vibrational medicine, using Aura-Soma, different butterfly and sea essences, and of course, flower essences. I’m a huge fan of our very own Australian Bush Flower Essences created by Ian White, and feel crazy-thrilled to be slowly gathering my own grown collection of native flowers and plants.
I have a sweet little Nigerian Dwarf goat family. They’re a dairy breed, and I’m yet to learn how to make cheese.
I’m a keen cook and love to grow all sorts of heirloom vegetables. I’m always on the hunt for new rare seeds, and already have way too many that I should probably stop buying them and just grow what I already have…. but I know I won’t.
I’ve often thought of growing flowers to sell as a bit of a hobby. I once enrolled in an online flower growing course, back before learning online was a thing. The course was so bad!! It was largely focused around farm inputs and chemical requirements and didn’t provide any information on how to actually start growing. I didn’t want to disrupt my vegetable garden with all the things I thought I had to do that I gave that idea up.
Many years later I discovered Floret and was gifted her very first online course. Floret presented growing in a way that resonated with me, and helped me realise that I could grow all the flowers I wanted to in a natural and sustainable way, despite what conventional farming “wisdom” taught.
I started growing dahlias and have been adding more and more beautiful things to my garden ever since.
